African Government of Chad Imposes State of Emergency

The BBC has reported that ethnic clashes in the African country of Chad have sparked a government crackdown in several regions. The article informs:

"Restrictions will be in place for 12 days in the eastern regions of Ouaddai and Wadi Fira and the northern region of Borkou, Ennedi and Tibesti. Earlier, the EU approved the sending of 3,000 peacekeepers to the region.

The ethnic violence has been inflamed by a four-year conflict across the border in Darfur. This has seen more than 200,000 Sudanese flee into Chad."
